Big demand for Daniel's Burt concert
28.01.09
TICKETS for one of the
most unique Daniel O’Donnell concerts in recent
times went on sale at St Aengus’ National School,
Bridgend, on Sunday afternoon. The world-famous
Donegal singer will play a special concert of sacred
and inspirational music in St Aengus’ Church, Burt,
on Monday, 20 April. Parishioners attending weekend
Mass in Burt, Inch and Fahan were told that tickets
would go on sale on Sunday afternoon.
Around 60 people queued for the tickets which went
on sale from 3pm. Priced at €42.50, the tickets were
limited to four per person. |
Mary McDermott of the
concert organising committee said more than half of
the 600 tickets were sold on Sunday.
“It was a bit quieter than expected, but Fr Porter
kept it low-key in order to give parishioners every
chance to buy a ticket,” she said. “We’ve now opened
sales to the wider community.”
The remaining tickets are currently on sale in the
Grianán Hotel in Burt, and no limits apply. |

“It’s been quiet so far
but there will be big excitement locally in the run
up to the concert,” Mrs McDermott said.
Daniel O’Donnell has recorded three albums of
inspirational music and has covered numbers such as
‘The Old Rugged Cross’, ‘How Great Thou Art’ and
‘Amazing Grace’.
O’Donnell’s manager Sean Reilly told the Inishowen
Independent that Daniel had promised local curate Fr
Michael Porter more than a year ago that he would
play a concert in Burt chapel and he’ll make good on
that promise on 20 April. |
