Survey results include
views on marina and housing
RESIDENTS of Fahan anxious to retain the character
of the village are in support of a by-pass road
around the village, the results of a recent survey
is set to reveal this week.
The survey carried out by Fahan Community Council,
saw around 400 questionnaires circulated to
residents of the area.
The local Council will present the results of the
survey prior to the Annual General Meeting on
Thursday 12, March in the Fowler Hall at 8 pm.
When those results are published council Chairman Mr
Colm Toland is set to reveal the importance
residents place on retaining the character of the
village and support for a by-pass of Fahan.
The survey is also understood to include views on
the completion of the marina as well as the types of
housing residents believe should be allowed.
Speaking in advance of the meeting Mr Toland
stressed that everyone is welcome to attend to learn
the results of the survey.
“Eventually the views expressed by residents will
form part of a Local Development Plan for the area.
It will determine how the village develops for the
future. I am sure this is of interest to everyone
living in the Fahan area and we look forward to a
lively discussion on the night,” Mr Toland said.
The meeting will be chaired by Mr Martin McGinley,
Editor in Chief of the Derry Journal Group. All
local councillors and aspiring councillors are
invited to attend. (Inishowen
