Shock closure of
Foody's Lodge
By Linda McGrory
RECESSION-hit Inishowen has lost a second hotel with
the surprise closure of the popular Foody's Lodge in
Quigley's Point.
The closure has led to the loss of 10 full-time jobs
as well as a number of part-time positions while
also coming as a blow to a number of local
suppliers.
A sign on the door yesterday apologised to customers
saying the premises had been shut until further
notice "due to unforeseen circumstances".
Fine Gael Councillor John Ryan said the closure of
any long-standing business in Inishowen was a source
of concern and disappointment to the peninsula.
"Quigley's Point is a small community and the
closure of a business like Foody's will have
far-reaching consequences not least because of the
loss of local jobs," said Cllr Ryan.
"I would urge the bank, the proprietor or any other
party involved in this matter, to get together and
try to come to some arrangement so that Foody's can
be reopened as soon as possible to safeguard these
local jobs. |
