Event to raise funds
for special needs at Scoil Íosagáin and Buncrana GAA
FASHION Kicks, a charity fashion show in aid of
Scoil Ísoagáin’s special needs unit and a new
special needs programme organised by the Buncrana
GAA club, hits the runway in the Inishowen Gateway
Hotel on Wednesday, March 25, and patrons can expect
a night to remember.
Hailed as Inishowen’s most exclusive fashion show,
event organiser Liam Gill promised that Fashion
Kicks will exceed all expectations.
Over the past three years, organisers Liam Gill,
David McConnell, Majella McGlinchey, Ros Brennan and
Brian McCracken have showcased collections from
Identity, Burtons, Dunnes Stores, Yellow Moon,
Benetton, Remus Uomo, Ginos, Penney’s,
Internationale and Posh Frocks to name but a few,
and this year they have pulled out all the stops to
add a versatile mix of high street shops to
designers.
Sponsored by the Letterkenny Shopping Centre and
Nivea, the event will be a delight for all the
senses. Fashion fanatics will be treated to an
explosion of colour, fantastic beats and vibrant
energy and there will be goody bags for all the
audience and a free raffle.
A spokesperson said the show is back by public
demand. Ever since the organisers arranged October’s
Fashion show in aid of iCARE, people have been
asking when is the next Fashion show.
An accompanying makeover competition will run in
conjunction with the Inishowen Independent, The
Seagrass, Zissors by Sonya, tHAIRapy and Hairess.
Three lucky nominated entrants will each receive a
professional portrait photograph, pampering session
at the Seagrass (Inishowen Gateway Hotel) and their
hair and make up styled to perfection. The three
nominated entrants will then show off their new look
at the fashion show where a panel of three judges
will choose a winner who will be whisked off for a
hotel break in the elegant Slieve Russell Hotel and
a cosmetics hamper. There will also be a prize for
the hairdresser who styles the overall winner.
The event promises to be a fantastically
exhilarating night in the name of two great causes
Scoil Íosagáin Special Needs Classes and a new
programme being set up for children with special
needs in association with Buncrana GAA.
The aim of the Buncrana GAA Special Needs Programme
is to work in partnership with other agencies and
organisations to enhance the physical health and
social well-being of people with disabilities whilst
simultaneously promoting social inclusion through
participation. The Buncrana GAA intends to expand
and further develop this important work.
