March launch for
‘Rhymes without reason’
A MALIN Head woman is set to launch her first
collection of poems ‘Rhymes without Reason’ early
next month.
Rose Collins' collection of poetry ‘Rhymes without
Reason,’ has been penned by over a period of fifty
years and will be launched in the Seaview Tavern
Malin Head, on Sunday, March 8th at 3.30pm.
Rose Collins, née McLaughlin, was born in Dreenagh,
Malin, and with her husband James, she moved to
England in 1953, living in Northumberland and then
Essex. They returned to Malin Head in 1984, where
Rose currently lives.
Her poems are reflective of various themes: Humour,
Posing social questions, Nature, Grief and loss and
local heritage and culture.
For some years her poem Malin Well was on display at
the ruins of the old Church at Malin Well in Malin
Head. She has had many requests over recent years to
read her poems at various local cultural/events.
Strictly speaking, this is Rose’s second
publication; a twelve page booklet of her poems
Memory Time in Verse was published in 1963 in Essex
by a local publisher and cost one shilling and
sixpence!
This publication Rhymes without Reason will make her
poems more widely available to family, friends and
the local community and will ensure that there is a
formal record of her work.
Rhymes without Reason will be launched by Michael
Judge, a prolific Dublin novelist, playwright and
screen writer. All are welcome to attend. Copies of
her book will be available at the launch and will
cost €10. (Inishowen Independent) |
