Mark raises €1,700 for
Motor Neurone patients

A CLONMANY man who lost his sight when he was 19
recently took part in a parachute jump to raise
funds for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease.
Mark McGonagle from Cloontagh, Clonmany, told the
Inishowen Independent this week that he had decided
to make the jump when a friend had said she was
going to do it.
“I have never really done anything like that before,
but when a friend of mine whose father had died said
they wanted to raise funds for this cause, I said
I’d do it as well.”
Mark said he didn’t really know what to expect when
he set off for Offaly to take part in the jump. |

“I think it’s something
I always wanted to do, just for the bizz. There
wasn’t really all that much in terms of training or
anything like that, I just went along, the man
showed me a few things and that was that. He was
hooked up beside me but it was some feeling.”

on the ground again,
and while he enjoyed the jump has no immediate plans
to do another soon at least.
“I said, I’d do it for this fund raising venture and
I did it and it was great but at the moment I’ve no
plans to do another,” he said.
Mark’s fund raising ventures saw him raise a
fantastic sum of €1,700 for the Irish Motor Neurone
Association.
“I received a lot of support from people in the
Clonmany area and I’d really like to thank them and
let them know how much I appreciate the help and
sponsorship they gave me,” Mark concluded. |
