BUNCRANA Mayor Lee Tedstone will tonight host a
meeting in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel to develop a
vision for the town in the years ahead.
The meeting will provide a forum for townspeople and
organisations to give their input into how they
would like to see Buncrana develop in the years
ahead. Presentations will be made by Kathleen Gill
of Inishowen Tourism, Jackie Doherty from the
marketing division of Derry City Council and a
representative of Inishowen Inc and Cllr Tedstone
will then throw open the discussion and ask the
public for their views.
“We’re going to discuss items under the headings of
tourism, community development, business and
enterprise and the role of the Town Council,” Cllr
Tedstone said. “And we’re looking for all interested
parties to attend.”
This is to be the first of three meetings that Cllr
Tedstone intends to hold over the remainder of his
term as mayor.
“This isn’t going to be a one off and I’m hoping to
pull together two or three working groups to work on
specific proposals that can be the supported by the
Town Council,” Cllr Tedstone said. “I’m appealing
for people to engage with this in a positive way,
and not get sidetracked by focusing on what the
council has or hasn’t done in the past.”
Earlier this year the Town Council approved an
initiative called ‘Our Community Project’ and Cllr
Tedstone said he hoped this meeting would feed into
this. Tonight’s meeting gets underway at 7.30pm in
the Inishowen Gateway Hotel. |
