NI premiere of 'A Shine of Rainbows' 30.11.09

'A SHINE of Rainbows' starring Hollywood heart-throb Aidan Quinn and filmed on location in Inishowen will have its Northern Irish premiere this week in Belfast.
Local band The Henry Girls will travel to perform at the premiere to take place on closing night of the Coca Cola Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People. The film was shot at a number of locations around Inishowen last summer and The Henry Girls features on its soundtrack. It’s the second premiere in as many months for the Malin sisters, following their performance at the Los Angeles Irish Film Festival in September.

The NI premiere of 'A Shine of Rainbows' will take place on Wednesday, December 2. Tickets for the event are sold out. Joleen McLaughlin who sings and plays harp and mandolin with the trio says the band is looking forward to playing at the Cinemagic festival. They will also facilitate a music workshop with Belfast schoolchildren earlier the same day.
“Growing up with music ourselves, we understand how important it is for young people to share in this vital part of our culture. We always enjoy playing music ourselves, but it’s great to share that sense of fun. We are also really looking forward to seeing the film," said Joleen, the youngest member of the group.
The Henry Girls are also launching their new album 'Dawn' which features original music from the film’s soundtrack. The girls have had a very successful year – with performances at the Earagail Arts Festival, The Donegal Bay and Bluestacks Festival, The Charles Macklin Festival and headlining at the North Coast Folk Festival. They also performed and toured with contemporary dance company Echo Echo earlier in the year.
