Inishowen dig deep to win 15.11.09
Rugby: 6-3 win for McCrossan

AFTER waiting for the men in black to finish their grand tour of Inishowen and realise that they were in-fact hosting the fixture, the game kicked off late in Limavady. The visiting Inishowen men received the kick-off and started play with a slight breeze behind them. The lads were fired up with some serious attitude and were determined to retain possession of the ball from the start, Inishowen charged up the pitch and set up camp. Both forwards and backs worked as a unit and played some impressive running rugby. Limavady responded with some off the ball tactics that let Dundee have a practice shot at the posts, only to go slightly wide. Limavady responded with some attacking rugby that left Inishowen realising that hard work was needed if they were to return to the oppositions half. Scrums started a little meekly until the pack were given a few tender words of advice, this did the trick and the boys upped the workload, started holding fast (McFadden the ever vocal Badger and McGuinness) and won some ball against the head (well done Terence). The home side didn’t take too kindly to this new challenge and handed the ball back to Dundee to slot 3 points. Inishowen gathered the kick and returned into hostile territory, the pack worked their way forward with some hard running from the returning Cantwell (Pack leader) and second row Noone. Inishowen kept getting close to scoring with some great work from the backline, Hickey decided enough was enough and backed himself all the way to the try line only to realise that he wasn’t playing NFL. Inishowen kept the pressure on and made their way up the park again; McColgan came close to scoring with one of his blitz runs from a scrum on the 5m line. Half time.
Inishowen kicked off the second half and the war was on again, Mickey Joe (Hands) made a good tackle, returned to his feet and won possession. Inishowen were advancing again. After Jackie made some fast breaks and hard yards, he was replaced through injury by Matty (Elbows) who upped the tempo of the game another notch. The ball was fed to the backs and Kenny decided to run into a few brick walls, this didn’t seem to deter him at all as he and the nippy right winger Paddy kept getting stuck in. Some vocals gifted Limavady 3 points to bring the score 3-3, all square and ten mins remaining (discipline). Shane (Yank) decided to feed Limavady soil with some red fertiliser after he made some explosive runs, fair dues he stayed on the pitch and kept intimidating the Limavady pack. Hickey left the field through injury; Owen who was fired up and rearing to get at the men in black replaced him. Jones, the ever-reliable full back wasn’t in the mood to let the score remain level. He powered into the defence time and time again, this led to a ruck being formed for the Inishowen half back gazelle to get behind Limavady lines only to be high tackled. Dundee stepped up to convert and Inishowen led 6-3. One minute remained and Cardiff ball was called, a well-rehearsed move that led to another penalty. Dundee had another go at the posts unfortunately the ball went wide. Final whistle.
Inishowen dug deep into their genetic make up to gain this victory, well-done lads lets keep this attitude alive and kicking.
