INISHOWEN Fianna Fáil
candidate Charlie McConalogue has welcomed that the
elections will be held on a Friday. "The fact that
the election is being held on a Friday will enable
younger people who may be away from home for work or
college to cast their vote," said Mr McConalogue. |
“I encourage young
people to now check the electoral register to ensure
that they are eligible to vote. Many may not have
made the effort until now as they may have felt that
they would not be at home on polling day." Voters
will go to the polls in the local and European
elections on Friday, June 5 and anyone aged 18 or
over is entitled to vote.
Mr Conalogue also urged people to arrange
immediately for a postal vote if they are unable to
make it home on election day. "Someone who can’t

the election should
contact Donegal County Council about applying for a
postal vote.
“The website
www.checktheregister.ie is a very easy method
for checking the register. If you are not sure you
are on the register, you can type in your name and
address and you will immediately be able to see your
registration status.
“As a young local candidate I would like to strongly
encourage young people to take an interest in the
election and to have their voice heard." |
