A MOVILLE woman is the
toast of London fashion after scooping Best
New Designer in the UK Fashion Awards.
Bronagh Holmes has firmly established herself as one
to watch after her win was announced on New Year's
Day. |

The 26-year old
daughter of Jackie and Eileen Holmes who run Karma
Indian restaurant in Moville, Bronagh was home for
Christmas but returned to London on January 1, just
hours after learning of her win.
She is currently working with the design company,
Amanda Wakeley, in the British capital.
This year marked the first ever UK Fashion Awards
and the winners are those who receive the most
public votes. |
Others to get the nod
from the public were Kate Moss who won Best Model
and Vivienne Westwood who picked up the Lifetime
Achievement award.
InishowenNews.com caught up with Bronagh last night.
Speaking from London, she explained that her winning
collection was what she created in 2007 for her
final year as a fashion student at the University of
Westminster. |
Although not a biker
herself, she said the collection was inspired by
motorcycles.
"I don't have a motorbike myself but I love
motorbikes and everything to do with them. My All
Black collection incorporated a few elements from
biker clothing and actual bike parts. I wanted to
create something special, something with an edge yet
feminine and glamorous.
"My collection makes women look like women, but who
can kick-ass at any given moment."
Bronagh, who devoted herself to Art at Carndonagh
Community School, also studied for a short time at
the former NWIFHE in Derry and also completed a one
year course in fashion design at Galway |

Institute of
Technology.
Meanwhile, mum Eileen, who travelled back last night
from a visit to her designer daughter added: "We are
all very proud of her." |
