MOVILLE'S Caiseal Mara Hotel will open its doors to
customers for the first time this Friday. It will be
managed by Mr Billy Tighe. An official opening, by
An Táinaste, Mary Coughlan, is set to take place
later in the year.
Extensive renovation work on the former McNamara’s
Hotel began last August and continued up to this
week.
Speaking to the Inishowen Independent, the general
manager of the McGee Hotel Group, Michael Naughton,
said he expected the public to be extremely
impressed with the 50-bedroom hostelry, formerly
McNamara’s Hotel. |
“The hotel has been
completely renovated and it’s totally changed from
the way it was. People will remember that the ground
floor in the old McNamara’s had four levels. Now
there is only two. We have a stunning new stairwell
leading up from the ground floor and there is also a
new lobby and |

reception area.
“There are two function rooms, the 300 capacity
Lough Foyle Suite and the Carrowmena Suite, which
can cater for up to 80. In addition there is the
Kinnego restaurant which seats 70 customers,” said
Mr Naughton.
Among the 50 bedrooms are the plush bridal suite and
four executive suites.
The hotel has a new bar, called the Quay, which has
a covered outdoor smoking area. Jobs for around 40
people are being created at Caiseal Mara and
although most positions have been filled, there are
still some openings. In addition the hotel will
require seasonal staff.
With festival season underway in the area, the extra
room capacity will be welcome. A number of UK tour
operators have expressed an interest in coming to
the hotel. The first big test of the new hotel will
come on May 31 when the hotel hosts its first
wedding. |
