INISHOWEN Development
Partnership is to host a showcase event aimed at
introducing women to the various activities and
pursuits available to them.
The event is called ‘Connections’ and it will be
held in Greenbank Hall, Quigley’s Point on Saturday,
November 15 from 10am to 3pm.
Activities on the day will include demonstrations of
the Nintendo Wii Fit, Salsa dancing, Bach flower
remedy, reflexology and information on composting
and domestic waste disposal, among many others.
Partnership training officer Mary McGeehan has
organised the event, in conjunction with a steering
group made up of representatives of women’s groups
in the peninsula. She explained that the concept for
the showcase came about as a result of a number of
women’s workshops held over the summer.
"The event hopes to encourage and support women to
be more actively involved in creating more cohesive
and vibrant communities," said Ms McGeehan.
The main objective of the event is to assist
Inishowen women to be informed of local groups and
to develop a local support network for women
community activists.
This event is open to all women’s groups, women
involved in community and voluntary groups and those
who may be interested in finding out more about the
women’s sector in the peninsula. Please contact Mary
McGeehan at 9362218 beforehand to confirm
attendance. |
