LEGENDARY Irish golfer
Des Smyth arrived by helicopter to a sunbathed
Ballyliffin on Bank Holiday Monday to confirm his
participation in the 2008 Irish Seniors Open. |
The former Ryder Cup
vice captain has been successfully based on the
Champions Tour in the USA for the past six years. He
said he was looking forward to this year's event in
Inishowen, particularly as it was being staged on a
classic coastal links similar to where he developed
his own golfing talent.
The Seniors Irish Open will take place from June 20
to June 22 and is the most prestigious |

event ever to be staged
in the North West. High profile players such as Sam
Torrance, Sandy Lyle, Constantino Rocca and Bob
Charles have already confirmed their attendance.
The event will enjoy extensive television coverage
on RTE, Sky Sports and the Golf Channel in the US
and China with a worldwide audience of around 300m
