INISHOWEN is to boast
the biggest organic farm in Ireland with plans by
Donegal Creameries to convert Grianan Estate in
Burt. The news was revealed following the
publication of the latest financial report by the

The board is said to be
upbeat on the potential of its property and
investment arm adding that plans to convert Grianan
Estate into the State's biggest organic farm is on
target one year into a two-year plan. Donegal
Creameries meanwhile warned of tougher trading times
ahead as it reported a drop in profits in its dairy
commodities for the first half of this year. The
food group reported pre-tax profits in its dairy
sector of just under €3.5m |
for the first six
months of 2008, down from €4.8m a year earlier.
Total revenue grew by 16.5% to €69.6m and the
company said its agri-business operation performed
well, with turnover up 23% to €39.7m. |
