PEOPLE in the Fahan,
Inch and Burt areas who are experiencing loneliness
for whatever reason are being encouraged to join a
new active retirement group.
A public meeting will take place next week in a bid
to get the new group up and running.
It's hoped to model the group on successful ones
around the peninsula including the one currently
ongoing in Carndonagh.
Violet Sheehan from the Carn group will speak at the
meeting and will relate her experiences and pass on
some helpful hints and advice. Ann Murphy, from the
Voice of Older People in Donegal, will also be in
attendance.
"This meeting, while especially for 55s and over, or
anybody retired, is open to the general public and
everyone is very welcome to come along," said
organiser, Peter Gurrie.
"If you know somebody in the Fahan, Inch or Burt
area who feels in anyway lonely or isolated or does
not appear to have many friends, please encourage
them to come along and meet new friends and
neighbours over a cup of tea or coffee."
The meeting will take place next Thursday, March 27
in the Fowler Hall, Tooban, at 7.30pm. For more
information, you can get in touch with Peter on 087
