ICRfm has 'Just the Job' for you
03.03.08
INISHOWEN Community
Radio has teamed up with a number of entrepreneurs
and career guidance counsellors for their latest
series on finding jobs and choosing careers.
'Just the Job' features the stories of eight people
in the North West whose jobs are somewhat out of the
ordinary. Series producer Rachel Blech hopes to
enlighten young people and those wanting a career
change about what is achievable in Donegal and how
it can be achieved. |
'Just the Job' is, in a
sense, ICRfm's first reality radio series where a
day in the life of each participant is condensed
into an entertaining 30 minute show.
The series kicks off on Thursday, March 13 at
10.20am, airing as part of ICRfm's morning 'Voices
of Inishowen' talk show. It will continue each
Thursday thereafter until May 1.
Tune in to hear stories from local entrepreneurs
working in sectors as diverse as café ownership to
running polarise classes. The series kicks off |
|
off with local lad
Stephen McLaughlin, founder of Atlantic Weave in
Moville. Other programmes feature a day in the life
of a librarian, a youth worker, a park manager in
Glenveagh and a theatre manager who enjoys a joke
with comedian, Jason Byrne.
As well as the reality section of the programme,
there's also a weekly panel giving specific and
worthwhile career guidance and advice. The panel
will be made up of FÁS senior employment services
officer Margaret Devenney who offers advice on
vocational training and FÁS initiatives as well as
personal qualities and aptitudes and former
secondary school teacher, guidance counsellor and
life coach Jimmy Gleeson who will give advice to
school leavers and students on subject choices at
further and higher education level.
Rachel Blech began her radio career as a volunteer
with Inishowen Community Radio, presenting the
highly successful world music show 'The World
Cruise' for a number of years. She has also served
on the station's board of directors. In the last
number of years she has featured on BBC Radio Ulster
and RTÉ, recently getting her own weekend show 'The
Magic Carpet' on RTÉ Lyric FM. ICR fm volunteer and
board member Aileen McCallan will guest present on
two of the shows. |
