Getting familiar with
Inishowen
11.03.08
FRONT-of-house staff at
hotels and other tourism workers are being invited
to take part in 'Familiarisation Tours' to get to
know Inishowen better.
Inishowen Tourism development manager Tony
McLaughlin said many interesting places and premises
are getting missed each year by visitors because of
a lack of local knowledge in the sector. |
With Accel Training
funding, Inishowen Tourism is now offering one-day
'Familiarisation Tours' that start at An Gríanán
Hotel, Burt and take in the whole peninsula by bus.
The guide is Carndonagh's Dessie McCallion who is a
fully-accredited tour guide with in-depth knowledge
and lengthy experience of conducting tours in the
region.
"We plan that these tours will include not only our
various landscapes etc., but also the many new
establishments that have come on stream in the
recent past," said Tony McLaughlin. "We also plan to
include those businesses that have been the |
|
mainstay of tourism in
this region for many years past."
It is hoped to run the first of these tours on
Monday, March 31, subject to demand. Inishowen
Tourism hopes to meet its match funding costs with a
charge of €25 per person to include refreshments
throughout the day.
The group has been getting in touch with local
businesses since the start of the month to gauge the
level of demand.
"We would urge all businesses to take this
opportunity to bring their staff up to date on the
Inishowen region," added Mr. McLaughlin. |
