BUNCRANA councillor
Daren Lalor has welcomed the launch yesterday of new
guidelines for the roll-out of the remaining Joint
Policing Committees (JPCs) across the State.
The Sinn Féin Councillor said the move would enable
the Justice Minister to push ahead with the roll-out
of the remaining JPCs including that in Buncrana. |
"I have written to both
the Buncrana town clerk and the Garda superintendent
to urge them to press a head at the earliest
opportunity," said Cllr Lalor.
"We in Sinn Féin believe that it is critically
important that a genuine partnership exists between
our communities and An Garda Síochána."
Cllr Lalor said it was also vital that the Gardaí
are accountable to the local community and public
representatives. |

"I am confident from my
meetings so far with the superintendent that through
the roll-out of the local JPC, we will be able to
deliver focused engagement between members of our
community and the Garda Síochána.
"With the support of all the local stakeholders we
believe that this JPC will have the potential to
deliver on the ground for our community across
Inishowen," added Cllr Lalor. |
