THE North West got a
much-needed boost yesterday with news of 300 new
jobs for Derry - pumping £10m in annual salaries
into the border economy.
Customer services firm, Firstsource Solutions, is
creating 334 jobs at its Springtown Business Park
plant in the city.
Firstsource Solutions, which has its headquarters in
India, already employs 530 workers at its
headquarters near Buncrana Road in Derry.
The Mayor of Derry, Alderman Drew Thompson yesterday
welcomed the boost.
He said the investment was evidence of the company’s
"confidence in the North West region".
“Since its establishment in the city, Firstsource
has been an excellent employment provider, employing
500 people in the city. News of these new jobs is a
tremendous boost to the wider region and the local
economy and is to be broadly welcomed," said Cllr.
Thompson.
The Mayor also acknowledged the role played by
Invest NI in attracting the investment.
Meanwhile, the North's Economy Minister Nigel Dodds
said the scale of the investment marked "a very
positive day for Derry".
"The local economy will not only benefit from an
additional £10m in salaries annually, but also from
the company's commitment to training and the
introduction of best practice skills in the area of
customer service," he said. |
