MOVILLE'S bottle banks
are on the move from a town centre location in a bid
to stamp out illegal dumping.
Councillor Marian McDonald said she had been
inundated with calls from people annoyed at the mess
being created around the bring banks near the Green
in Moville and also in Quigley’s Point.
“I have been contacted on numerous occasions now by
a number of concerned residents in both the Moville
and Quigley’s Point areas regarding illegal dumping
at the bottle bank," she said. |

"I have been working
with both the litter warden and David Friel, the
recycling officer, at Donegal County Council on the
matter. Both parties have now informed me that they
will be monitoring the situation closely and that
further action will be taken to deal with this
matter. Anyone caught illegally dumping will be
prosecuted." |
Cllr McDonald said
there was no excuse for people "abusing" the
facilities.
“There are blue bins provided for recycling rubbish
which are collected every second week, along with
the excellent facility at Carndonagh amenity site.
There is no reason for the bottle banks to be abused
in this manner."
She also confirmed that preparations were underway
to relocate the bottle banks at the Moville car park
to Glencrow Business Park. "It is hoped that this
will be done within the next month. CCTV cameras
will also be installed," she added. |
