Modern new schools for Clonmany,
Moville
11.01.08
SCHOOLCHILDREN and
teachers in Clonmany and Moville are in line for new
state-of-the-art national schools this year, Senator
Cecilia Keaveney has confirmed.
She made her comments following talks in Letterkenny
on Thursday with Education Minister, Mary Hanafin. |
"I had Minister Hanafin
visit Clonmany N.S., some time ago where she saw
conditions for herself. I am also on the board of
Scoil Eoghain, Moville and was delighted to see
these projects progress so well over 2007," said
Senator Keaveney.
She said it was "vital" that the important advances
achieved now led the final step of becoming bricks
and mortar.
"It is clear that there are major cities under great
pressure to provide any facility for the number of
students presenting for education, but these more
rural schools have had their own histories and |

and progress was slow
until recently. This momentum cannot now be lost and
this is a message I have continued to give Minister
Hanafin," she added.
The Department of Education confirmed yesterday that
the school in Clonmany would begin in 2008.
"They are still just working out what order these
schools go in, not if they will happen in 2008.
Therefore, it is a positive piece of news for
children, staff and parents alike. The Minister has
also said that the standard of these new schools is
very high and communities will be delighted when
they see the results," added the local senator. |
