Inishowen gets its first Fianna Fáil cubs 26.06.08

FIANNA FÁIL cubs are up and running in Inishowen following the establishment of the peninsula's first branch of Ógra.
The new local committee of the youth branch of the Fianna Fáil party was unveiled following a meeting in Buncrana on Monday night.
Carol Faulkner from Quigley's Point was elected chairperson while her fellow Ógra founder Kevin Kelly was elected secretary.
Carol Faulkner "Both Kevin and I are delighted that Ógra Fianna Fáil has been established. A lot of hard work has been done to get this up and running and the outlook for the future of Inishowen Ógra is looking positive," said Carol, who works as parliamentary assistant to Senator Cecilia Keaveney.
The new board also includes vice-chair Garry Duffy; treasurer Gemma McGroary and communications officer Charlottte Simpson.
Clonmany university student Kevin, said he the new grouping aimed to set about
improving the lives of young people in Inishowen through a number of varied campaigns.
"This process will start shortly with our look into the new Leaving Certificate reforms. In the coming months we also hope to launch a number of other campaigns aimed at raising youth issues across Inishowen," he said.
It has also been agreed to hold an official Inishowen Ógra Fianna Fáil launch night.
"This will be an opportunity to thank all those who have helped and supported us along the way. We also hope to have all our local public representatives and members from the National Youth Committee of Ógra in attendance and it is sure to be a fun filled night to remember," added a delighted Carol and Kevin.
Meanwhile, Senator Cecilia Keaveney welcomed the arrival of the young wing of the party on her home turf.
“Ógra Fianna Fáil is the largest young wing of all the political parties in the country and I have no doubt that we, as a political party in Donegal North East, will benefit greatly from its establishment. Young people are the politicians of the future and I welcome any such incentives to encourage young people to get involved in politics.
"I wish the members all the success in the world and I look forward to working with the group in the future," she said.
