Inishowen food producers join new network 13.05.08

THREE Inishowen food producers have joined a major new network to help them capitalise on the growing market for top quality artisan produce.
Inishowen Country Kitchens, Malin; Daniel Doherty Bakers Ltd., Moville and Galfee's Food Services, Buncrana, are members of the Taste 4 Success Skillnet network. The network has more than 40 micro food and beverage producers operating in Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo and Cavan.

Artisan food guru Peter Ward. Inishowen Country Kitchens, Daniel Doherty and Galfee's will be represented at a gala launch of the network this Thursday in the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan by Peter Ward, chairman of Bord Bia's Taste Council.
Ward is one of Ireland’s most respected artisan food experts, generating a national reputation for his Country Choice café and delicatessen. He is a passionate advocate for all things related to Irish farm-based artisan food and has often visited the North West to provide encouragement to local producers. He will provide insights
into how he sees the sector developing in the next five to ten years.
“We’re delighted that Peter Ward agreed to be keynote speaker for the launch,” said Taste 4 Success programme manager, Stephen Hennessy.
“His knowledge of the artisan food sector is unmatched and he is a real inspiration for small food businesses operating in the North West and the Midlands. We believe this marks the beginning of a major departure for specialist food producers in both regions," he added.
Mr. Hennessy said the small and artisan food sector in the North West is growing but there is still "huge untapped potential".
The Taste 4 Success brand is being developed to promote the growth, innovation and sharing of best practice among local speciality producers, to help them capitalise on this demand for high quality artisan foods. Thursday's launch will be the first in a series of events that also include subsidised training programmes organised by the Taste 4 Success Skillnet for local food producers.
