A CARNDONAGH residents'
group were recently recognised with a prestigious
Donegal County Council Pride of Place Award.
Ard Kilbride Residents' Association were praised for
their civic pride and the level of voluntary
activity they undertake on an ongoing basis in their
community.
At the recent awards ceremony in Letterkenny,
Donegal County Council director of services, Michael
Ó hEanaigh commended those present for the work they
had done in their respective localities. |
“We are very pleased
with the quality of responses we received from our
call to community groups and organisations to
participate in this year’s competition. The depth
and breath of voluntary activity underway in
communities across Donegal was very evident in the
applications received," he said.
The Council launched the first Donegal Pride of
Place initiative in 2007 to publicly acknowledge |

local community and
voluntary groups for their contribution to making
the communities and ultimately the county a better
place to live.
Former Donegal Mayor Cllr John Boyle said the Pride
of Place Awards recognised the great work of people
in the community who often did not seek recognition
for their efforts. "These awards, are a great source
of motivation for many communities and can give a
boost and inspiration to others who wish to achieve
something similar”. |
