Horror crash court date set
26.02.08
A MAN is due to appear
at an Inishowen court in April in relation to the
horror crash that claimed the lives of five young
friends at Quigley's Point more than two years ago.
Rochelle Peoples, Charlene O'Connor, David Steele,
Gavin Duffy and Darren Quinn were killed in the
accident in the early hours of October 8, 2005. All
five were in the one car.
The male driver of the other car was badly injured
in the crash and was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital
in Derry. He was the sole survivor of the crash that
shocked the entire country.
The latest development comes following an
impassioned public appeal on January 21, by the
victims' families for the Director of Public
Prosecutions to make a decision on the case. |
The families said they
simply wanted "to find out what happened" in a bid
to get some closure from their ongoing agony.
It's understood the families had a meeting with
Gardai in Buncrana yesterday and were informed of
the decision to bring a man before the courts.
Although they made no official |
|
statement following the
meeting, a source close to the families said they
were very pleased.
Suggesting it had been a long and hard struggle to
get to this point, the spokesperson said they were
pleased that the DPP had finally made a decision.
The man will appear at Carndonagh District Court on
April 15. |
