Carn publican to run for Sinn Féin 09.09.08

CARNDONAGH-based businessman Sean Ruddy has been named as the likely second Sinn Féin candidate for Inishowen.
The proprietor of the Arch Inn at the Diamond, he has been chosen by Sinn Féin as their likely second candidate in Inishowen for the county council elections next year. He will join sitting Councillor Pádraig MacLochlainn on the ticket, ahead of the party’s local convention this Sunday, September 14.
The convention will take place in Simpson’s function room at Tul Na Ri, Carn at 5pm.
Sean Ruddy has run the Arch Inn for the past eight years. Prior to that, he served 15 years in the licensing and catering industry in Ireland, London and New York. The son of Sean and Kathleen Ruddy from Larahirl, Culdaff, he has two brothers, Martin and Daniel, who both live in Letterkenny, and two sisters, Marie, living in Ballyshannon and Katrina, living in Culdaff.

Married to Valerie McDermott from Carndonagh and stepfather to Díolmháin, Sean has a strong track record of community leadership, organising and facilitating a wide range of fundraisers for local and international causes.
He was educated in Carndonagh Community School and then trained at Killybegs Catering College before emigrating to England along with thousands of other Irish men and women in the 1980s.
He is chairperson of Carndonagh/ Malin Sinn Féin and a leading member of the party in Inishowen.
