PR guru to launch Donegal design event 08.09.08

INISHOWEN businesses will have a chance to meet one of the country's leading PR gurus when she officially launches the Donegal Design Directorate Skillnet on September 16. The free breakfast event will mark the start of a new programme promoting the value of design to local businesses and will offer advice on how a brand can be packaged and communicated to maximum effect. Ms Prone will be joined by Philip Carder, chief executive of Magee Clothing and Garry Cohn, creative director at Douglas Wallace, one of the biggest architecture firms in Ireland.
Terry Prone has advised almost every taoiseach since Jack Lynch, and was recently seconded to the Department of the Environment as chief communications adviser. Philip Carder joined Magee Clothing in 1994, heading up its weaving operations before moving to the clothing division in 2000. The Donegal company is a good example of how a business revitalised itself through the effective use of design and branding.
Garry Cohn is a former professor of design at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and ran his own successful design company
Terry Prone
in the US before joining Douglas Wallace in 2006. Douglas Wallace has 180 staff and an annual turnover of €20m.
The event will be held in the Radisson Hotel, Letterkenny, to launch the new Donegal Design Directorate programme for 2008 to 2009 programme. The new schedule will include networking events, conferences, subsidised training courses and a series of best practice visits will be announced.
The launch kicks off with a free networking breakfast at 8.30am. To reserve your place or to find out more please contact design network manager Donna McFadden on 074 9160735 or email donnamcfadden@donegalenterprise.ie .
