Moville gets in top shape
for Tidy Towns judges
24.06.08
MOVILLE Tidy Towns
committee and volunteers were hard at it again at
the weekend getting the town into top shape for this
year's national competition. |
Committee member, Cllr
Marian McDonald said Moville had a great chance of
increasing its points tally this year as it had been
chosen as the Inishowen town to benefit from the
cross-border Heritage Environment Art Rural and
Tourism (HEART) environmental project.
As part of the HEART project, the Foyleside town has
taken delivery of stunning new flower planters
placed around the town centre including The Square.
Vintage-style summer seats in heritage blue wrought
iron have also been installed in the town centre |
|
while heritage blue
picnic tables have been erected on The Green.
Fifteen hand-carved granite stone seats, by
Yorkshire artist Michael Disley, will also grace
Moville's seafront from August as part of the HEART
trail. |

"Rails are to be put
along the Shore Path along with new signage and 30
extra rubbish bins have been placed around the
town," said Cllr McDonald.
Big clean ups take place in the town every other
Saturday and the Tidy Towns committee are looking
for volunteers to help paint the summer seats and
other outdoor amenities.
Meanwhile, the local councillor called on residents
of the town's housing estates to spruce up their
homes in time for the Donegal County Council tidiest
estates competition. "Judging will take place in
July and August. |
If everyone looks after
their property, we could have all estates winners
this year." For more photos of getting
