A HUGE youth
extravaganza will be held in the Plaza at the end of
the month with 30 stalls promoting sport, art,
music, drama and much more.
The aim of the Youth Information Day on Thursday,
October 30, is to promote the leisure opportunities
available to young people in the community, while
providing them with professional support on issues
such as education, mental health and drug/alcohol
misuse. The idea came about for the event following
discussions with a number of students and local
parents on how best to promote the leisure
activities, clubs and groups available in the
Buncrana area.
"So far the feedback from the groups themselves has
been very positive and we feel with the good variety
of stalls that are participating, this event should
reach out to a wide range of interests," said a
spokesperson.
The national and secondary schools will also play a
part in promoting the event. The organisers are
encouraging as many young people and
parents/guardians as possible to attend. The event
will run from 12pm to 4pm and entry is free. Those
who attend will have the chance of winning a great
door prize. Among those lined up to host a stall are
Buncrana Youth Club; The Samaritans; GAA; FAI;
Parent Stop; Donegal Youth Council; Inishowen Surf
School; Artlink; Youthreach; Illies Golden Gloves;
North Pole Cycling; Inishowen Carnival Group; Pedal
Right Cycling; Drumfries Youth Club and Inishowen
Athletics. |
