TWO Inishowen community
centres are to receive more than €40k and €30K
respectively from the Department of Community, Rural
and Gaeltacht Affairs.
Glengad Community Centre is to get a total of
€42,000 while Carrowmenagh Community Centre will get
€31,500.
The monies have been welcomed by Senator Cecilia
Keaveney who said the allocations were part of an
overall €2.4m package from the Department's
Community Services Programme.
“I greatly welcome today’s news from Minister Eamon
Ó Cuív. At present, 372 projects receive funding
under the Community Services Programme to deliver a
diverse and varied range of social enterprises and
services to the community," she said.
"These services include rural transport, general
services for rural communities, the management and
use of community halls and facilities, tourism and
heritage, recycling and environmental and childcare
projects." She said the initiatives granted funding
identified local need and delivered accordingly
under local ownership.
"I commend all those who give up their time to
volunteer within the community and I have no doubt
that the groups involved will greatly welcome (the
allocations)," added Senator Keaveney. |
