Coughlan views Inishowen invention 10.08.07

INISHOWEN Engineering which has invented a unique underwater light got the chance to demonstrate the product at a recent meeting with Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Mary Coughlan.
The Atlantis Light created by the Drumfries company, will be unveiled next week at the world's biggest fish farming show, the Aqua Nor 2007 trade fair in Norway.
Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Mary Coughlan is shown the Atlantis Light. With her, from left, are Clairann Murphy of Inishowen Engineering; P.J. O'Reilly, Innovation and Technology Transfer Department of Enterprise Ireland; Siobhan Grant of business growth consultants Grant Connections and Inishowen Engineering company director, Josephine Noone. The invention is unique in that it allows the light to operate at lower voltages, making it safer for use in the marine, search and rescue, oil exploration and landscape gardening industries, to name but a few of the target markets.
"The Atlantis Light is a unique underwater light that uses a patented
water cooling design, making it suitable for use in multiple applications," explained Inishowen Engineering company director Josephine Noone.
It is hoped the light will be bought by search and rescue, exploration and oil companies throughout the world. The local company will also market the product to local authorities for municipal lighting. Because it operates from a lower voltage it is much safer to use in water. Represenatives of the local firm will fly to Norway next week for the fair which runs from August 14th to August 17th. They hope the international show will raise the profile of the invention and result in orders for the product.
