DONEGAL Senator Cecilia Keaveney said she is "honoured" after being
appointed to a number of Government and European
bodies.
Building on her significant Seanad Eireann portfolio
as Government spokesperson on Education and Science,
the Moville-based senator is a member of the Council
of Europe; the British Irish Inter-Parliamentary
Body; the Good Friday Agreement Committee; the
Oireachtas Commission and the Joint Oireachtas
Committee on Education and Science.
Senator Keaveney said: “I am honored to have been
appointed to so many bodies and it is with
enthusiasm and commitment that I will take on the
challenges that will emanate from my involvement.”
She said she was particularly happy with the role
she will play in Northern affairs.
“Coming from a border area like Donegal, I am
particularly happy to be involved in the British
Irish Inter-Parliamentary Body and the Good Friday
Agreement Committee.
“Having been a member in the previous Government
term, I look forward to continuing my work within
the British Irish Inter-Parliamentary Body,
alongside my constituency colleague Deputy Niall
Blaney, who has been appointed Chairman of the
Body.” |
