A DONEGAL tourism chief
who accidentally discovered he had cancer will
compere a charity fashion show next week in aid of
sufferers.
Paul McLoone, North West Tourism manager, will be MC
at the Donegal Action for Cancer Care (DACC) show in
the Mount Errigal Hotel on Tuesday, October 2nd.
"Paul only discovered he had cancer when he had an
accident," explained a DACC spokesperson.
She said the fashion show format was chosen as a
fundraiser because of the importance of self esteem
in a patient. The models at the show will be cancer
patients and photos taken of the models on the night
will be used to compile a fundraising calendar for
2008.
"By doing this it is hoped to raise awareness that
not only is it possible to survive cancer but that
appearance, style and self image is as important to
patients as it is to everyone and indeed can
contribute to the person’s sense of wellbeing."
Funds raised on the night will be divided between
prostrate and breast care services at Letterkenny
General Hospital and Donegal Action for Cancer Care
(DACC).
Also starring on the night will be two year old
'miracle baby' Shane McDevitt, who came into the
world very much against the odds.
Fashions on the night will be supplied by leading
fashion outlets and prizes have been sponsored by
many businesses.
There will be raffles on the night with prizes
ranging from a €2000 sofa, a €1,300 dining room set,
100% wool rug, €325 coffee table to meals and beauty
treatments, to name but a few.
This promises to be a great fun night out. Tickets
are only €10 each and areavailable from the Mount
Errigal Hotel, B-Bobs Hairdressers, Arena7, Sofa
World, the DACC office - all in Letterkenny - and
