Half Donegal population owns
car

A TOTAL of 157 people
in Donegal get behind the wheel of a luxury Lexus
car every day, new figures show. |
The statistics from the
Department of Transport also show that 27 motorists
drive Jaguars while 853 own a Mercedes.
BMWs are the choice of 1,221 people while Audi,
Volvo, Saab and Alfa Romeo account for 1,012, 475,
150 and 95 drivers |

respectively.
The league table also reveals that nearly half the
population in Donegal now own a car. A total of
55,036 motor vehicles were licensed in the county in
2006.
By far the most popular make of car among Donegal
drivers is Toyota with a whopping 9,218 registered
in the county.
This is followed by Opel at 6,602; Volkswagen,
5,588; Ford, 4,713 and Nissan, 3,980.
