DONEGAL North East T.D.,
Deputy Niall Blaney has been appointed a member of the Fianna Fáil Northern Strategy
committee.
The 15-strong group will work to develop the strategy for the development of the party on a
32-county basis.
Deputy Blaney is the only representative from the
North West on the panel which meets for the first
time on Tuesday.
“Between then and next Easter, we will conduct an
extensive party consultation process, across all
units of the organisation," said Deputy Blaney.
“Every cumann will be invited to debate this issue
and to report on its findings while every member
will have an opportunity to make an individual
submission and to have their say.”
The group's final deliberations will be sent forward
to the Árd Comhairle, party leadership and,
ultimately, an Árd Fheis for approval.
“This is an historic move, but it does demand the
gradual and strategic approach we are now embarking
on," said Deputy Blaney.
“As a border T.D., I am particularly delighted to be
playing part in the process, which I hope will
result in the coming together of like minded people
across the border divide. Among the other committee
members are Foreign Affairs Minister, Dermot Ahern
TD, who will be chairman; Rory Brady, SC and Seán
Dorgan. |
