SCHOOLS inspectors have
given Scoil Mhuire Geography teachers in Buncrana an
excellent report.
The report was published by the Department of
Education yesterday and praises the teachers'
teaching skills, planning and co-ordination.
Scoil Mhuire has 623 students - 319 girls and 304
boys - and a total of three teachers of Geography.
The new report states: "All individual lessons were
meticulously planned and an extensive range of
resources has been developed by teachers to support
teaching and learning.
"Very high quality teaching and learning was evident
in almost all of the lessons observed. Classrooms
were rich learning environments with displays of
maps, charts, lists of key words and students’
project work."
The report also praised the "mutually respectful
atmosphere" between teachers and students.
The Department published more than 100 schools'
inspection reports yesterday as well as a number of
reports into the teaching of individual subjects in
certain schools.
Among the inspectors' recommendations to Scoil
Mhuire was that more focus could be given to
information and communications technology while
there was also scope to encourage more students to
try higher level Geography in the Junior Cert. |
