Jobs boost with €6.5m
Greencastle complex 23.03.07
THE COMPANY behind a
€6.5m seaside leisure development in Greencastle is
preparing to launch phase two with a pledge of job
creation for the seaside resort.
At least six full-time jobs will be created on
completion of Greencastle Cove, a 10-acre landscaped
complex close to the local 18-hole golf links. |
|
The first phase
comprising 27 holiday homes was completed last year
with 18 new homes in the pipeline for phase two.
The development includes a purpose-built play area,
a children’s playground, an all-weather football
pitch and two tennis courts.
The man behind the unique project is property
developer James Keys. |
He said: “We are very
excited about phase two of the project, particularly
following on from the success of the first phase.
“It is great to see the leisure homes being used by
families each weekend. Greencastle Cove sets a new
standard in quality leisure accommodation and it
will provide a significant boost to tourism, jobs
and the local economy.”
Of the 27 homes completed last year, 21 were
purchased with the remaining six now available for
holiday rentals this coming season. |
Letterkenny-based
company Baronhill Construction is building the homes
and currently employ 16 people on site. The
Greencastle Cove project is located a short distance
from the village and lies close to Sweet Nellie’s
beach and Greencastle Golf Course. |
|
Mr. Keys said six full
time staff would initially be employed upon
completion of the project with the possibility of
more jobs in the future.
“The Inishowen Peninsula is a striking location, so
it was a challenge to design and develop buildings
that would fit into the landscape and complement it.
I think the people here will be impressed by what we
have achieved,” added Mr. Keys. |
