INISHOWEN Children's
Autism Related Education (iCARE) will host the
Treharris Male Choir from Wales and the Gateway
Singers as their next charity fundraiser.
The event will take place in the Inishowen Gateway
Hotel on Saturday, November 17 at 8pm. The evening
will also include a guest appearance by comedian
Jimmy McEldowney.
The Treharris Male Choir was formed in 1961 in what
was then a strong coal mining community. In the 45
years since its formation, the choir has travelled
extensively throughout Britain and Europe, extending
its reputation for both professionalism and
entertainment.
The Gateway Singers was formed in 2005 and currently
has more than 70 members from the age of 17 and
upwards. The choir is under the direction of John
Peoples and the co-direction of Claire Doherty, both
of whom have many years' experience in the field of
music and choral work in the North West. Meanwhile,
their hosts for this upcoming musical extravaganza -
iCARE - was set up in September 2000 to plug the
support, training and information gap that existed
in the Inishowen area for children with autism and
their families. |
