Pedestrian crossings for Muff
village
27.08.07
THE border village of
Muff is to finally get its long-delayed pedestrian
crossings, a local councillor has said.
Cllr. Pádraig Mac Lochlainn said he had been assured
by senior Donegal County Council officials that the
crossings will soon proceed to construction. |

"A public consultation
process was carried out by the Council earlier this
year to decide where the most appropriate location
in the village for the crossings were. However there
has been a delay in proceeding on to construction
now for months," he said.
Cllr. MacLochlainn said he had lobbied for a number
of years for the safety crossings on behalf |
of the residents of
Muff.
"I have campaigned for these crossings now for a
number of years. Indeed my fellow Sinn Fein members
in the area carried out a petition of hundreds of
local residents and business people to strengthen
our case," he said.
"The crossings have been paid for by a developer who
was asked to do so as part of his planning
conditions.
"While I welcomed the public consultation process to
ensure maximum local agreement on where the
crossings should be located, I am very frustrated at
the delay in progressing this matter for months at
this stage.
"I have now been assured by senior officials at
Donegal County Council that they will move to wrap
up the consultation process and finally construct
the long overdue pedestrian crossings," he added. |
