Work stoppage at Letterkenny Hospital suspended 25.04.07

A planned one-hour work stoppage by nurses at Letterkenny General Hospital today has been called off to allow face-to-face talks to resolve the dispute take place.
Discussions between health service employers and nursing unions began yesterday and while planned stoppages at 50 hospitals today have been suspended, the nurses' work-to-rule continues.
General and psychiatric nurses are seeking a 10% pay rise and a 35-hour working week.
These are the first talks to take place between the HSE and unions since 40,000 nurses in the INO and PNA began industrial action more than three weeks ago.
The INO says the talks will be a 'tough challenge'
Meanwhile, the HSE said it was willing to discuss a reduced working week within the Labour Court framework.
