An estimated €7,000
worth of goods have been stolen in a raid at a
Buncrana pharmacy.
The burglary took place in the early hours of Friday
at Tierney's Chemist on St. Oran's Road.
Gardai have confirmed that while the medicine
dispensary was undisturbed, the thieves made off
with a number of sale items including digital
cameras and memory cards as well as two laptop
computers used by the business. The loss is
estimated at between €6,000 to €7,000. The business
was closed and the scene sealed off for several
hours for a Garda forensic examination.
"The incident was reported to us at 8am on Friday.
We would like to hear from anyone who saw any
suspicious activity in the vicinity of St. Oran's
Road or Mill Brae on Thursday night or the early
hours of Friday," said a Garda spokesperson.
It's understood the raiders gained access to the
building - the former Clubman Omega shirt factory -
through a corrugated iron roof.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardai
in Buncrana on 9361555.
