TWO local mechanics are
counting their blessings after a bus they were
working on burst into flames.
Reddin's bus depot in Muff was burned down in the
blaze which broke out at around 3pm on Tuesday
afternoon.
One of the mechanics, Owen McColgan, who is in his
40s said he was "lucky to escape with (his) life".
Four fire brigade units including three from Derry,
fought the fire which ingnited when the men were
undertaking welding work.
Luckily, nobody was injured in the blaze which raged
for several hours, sending thick black smoke
billowing into the air. The incident also caused
major traffic disruption in the border village. But
it could have been much worse had the rest of the
fleet, around 28 buses, not been out on the daily
school run at the time. |
