Calls for revamp of Moville
Green

A NEW study is
recommending a complete revamp of Moville Shore
Green.
The six-month feasibility study was carried out by
the Moville Playground Group in consultation with
local voluntary and community groups, schools, clubs
and interest groups.
It recommends a major clean-up of the green, the
restoration and maintenance of existing picnic and
toilet facilities, a new multi-purpose ball playing
area, a new marine leisure facility and heritage and
information signs. |

Towards this aim, local
businesses and golfers are being asked to support
the Golf Classic at Greencastle on July 21st, to
raise funds for the improvements. Playground group
fundraiser Liam Skelly said the new projects to
improve the Green could not go ahead without
funding.
“We will of course apply for any local funding that
is available, but we still |
need some money in the
bank first, or we won’t be eligible to apply.”
“We have done the work to bring us to the point
where we know what local people want. We now need
local people to support this fundraising effort to
make it all happen. The improvements needed could
make a big difference to the community and to our
ability to attract visitors to the town, so it is
important that we succeed," he said.
“Over the next week, I will be asking local
businesses and agencies to provide generous
sponsorship to the Golf Classic, as the town has
already benefited from increased use of the green,
from locals and visitors alike, since the new
playground opened.
"We need you to play your part now, or it will be
impossible to continue to improve the Green," he
added.
The Golf Classic will comprise open teams of four
with a timesheet in operation. The entry fee is €15
for members and €30 for visitors. There will be ten
