Sporting clubs and
organisations around Inishowen have been allocated
nearly 1m under the Sports Capital Lotto Programme
for 2007.
Oireachtas Sports Committee chairperson, Deputy
Cecilia Keaveney welcomed the allocations to her
constituency and said the region now boasted some of
the best facilities in the country.
The groups to benefit are: Buncrana Youth and
Community
Development Company Ltd, 150,000; Aileach Football
Club, 110,000; Cockhill Celtic Youth and Football
Club, 100,000; Malin Head Community Association,
80,000; Tremone Youth and Recreation Ltd, 70,000;
Greencastle Community Development Co Ltd, 70,000;
Inishowen Branch of Riding for the Disabled,
70,000; Muff Community Development Co-Op Society
Ltd, 70,000; Malin Head Community Sports Field,
70,000; Culdaff Sports Committee, 65,000;
Quigleys Point Community Centre, 40,000; Moville
GAA, 30,000; St
Patricks GAA, Muff, 20,000 and Inishowen Athletics
Club, 6,000.
With over 950,000 allocated to Inishowen alone, I
really must commend the Minister for Sport, John O
Donoghue for his continued support to organisations
all over this county but particularly in Inishowen,
said Deputy Keaveney.
He clearly values their contribution to community
and youth development, as do I.
