AN Inishowen man has
been named chairperson of the Foyle, Carlingford and
Irish Lights Commission.
Tarlach Ó Crosáin was this week appointed to the
all-Ireland marine body, also known as the Loughs
Agency. A Sinn Féin member, Mr. Ó Crosáin lives in
Aught and is also a well-known member of the
community in the Muff parish.
His party colleague, Cllr. Pádraig MacLochlainn
yesterday offered his congratulations.
"I am delighted for Tarlach. He has been a very
active and committed member of The Foyle,
Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission board or
Loughs Agency, as it is otherwise known," said Cllr.
MacLochlainn.
"I have worked closely with Tarlach over recent
years to address the many challenges that our
fishing community on the Foyle face. Only recently,
we worked closely with our party colleagues, Bairbre
de Brún, MEP and Minister Michelle Gildernew to
ensure that the salmon fishermen received their
delayed hardship funds in time for Christmas."
The Buncrana-based town and county councillor said
the appointment was also a boost for the peninsula.
"The news of Tarlach's appointment will be welcomed
in Inishowen. He is widely respected in the area and
I know he will continue to work hard for this area
in his new role." |
