MORE than 40m is to be

the coming years, it's been announced.
The spend is part of an allocation of 353m for
Donegal under the national Water Services Investment
Programme 2007 to 2009.
The allocation is one of the highest in the country,
with only three counties receiving higher
allocations.
It was welcomed yesterday by Donegal North East T.D.,
Deputy Niall Blaney.
We were reminded this year what a precious resource
water is by events in Galway. We must continue to
invest in preserving and enhancing environmental
standards generally, and Minister John Gormely has
today reiterated this Governments commitment to
this end with an investment programme that is worth
5.8 billion nationwide," he said.
Among the local projects to get underway are
Desertegney Water Supply Scheme Stage 1, to start in
Inishowen with a budget of 1.1m; Inishowen Sludge

pollution and enhanced protection of rivers, lakes
