Inishowen's many
beautiful attractions are well known - from the
rugged seascape of Malin Head to the historic
tranquillity of Buncrana's Castle Bridge.
Within minutes you can go from lakeland to coast,
from forest to mountain.
However, many people, locals and visitors alike,
have yet to discover the hidden gem that is Glenevin
Waterfall Park in Straid, Clonmany. |

Nestled in a stunning
valley and following, for a distance of 1km, the
uphill path of a meandering stream to the main
attraction - the 30ft Glenevin Waterfall - this is a
must-see for everyone.
Whether you prefer a gentle stroll, are a more
ardent rambler or fancy yourself a bit of an
adventurist, you'll fall in love |
with this local
treasure.
And you'll be hard-pressed to find a better spot to
bring the children. This rural idyll never fails to
conjure images of Tolkien's Shire. Precious!
If the kids don't manage to find a Hobbit under a
stone, try telling them there isn't a troll under
one of the footbridges.
There are several picnic areas which blend
effortlessly with the natural surroundings. But if
you don't bring your own, you can reward yourself
with a nice cup of tea and scone in the Glen House.

over the May Bank Holiday were Sunderland husband
and wife John and Judith Whelan. But they had
insider knowledge, courtesy of their friend Fr. Jo
Jo Sweeney. |
Jo Jo informed
InishowenNews.com he had worked for many happy years
in Sunderland but was now delighted to be retired
back home in his native Ballyliffin.
Meanwhile, sisters Aileen McCallan, Buncrana,
Jacinta McAllinden, Armagh and Deirdre Nugent,
Tyrone, were thrilled with their Clonmany adventure. |
